XL BIG GREEN EGG
Which size EGG best fits your needs? You have a choice of five sizes ranging from a Mini to an Extra Large. The detail provided here will let you determine which size you want. But keep in mind that it is not unusual for enthusiastic outdoor chefs to actually own more than one.

Note: Shown with optional Nest & Mates.
XL EGG®

For many years the Large EGG was our most popular size. But as consumers increased the frequency of their outdoor cooking, they discovered that entire meals could be cooked over the coals and even learned they could cook several meals at once, they decided that large for them wasn't large enough. We realized there was a substantial demand for an even bigger EGG so we developed the XL Big Green Egg.

Specifications:
  • 24-inch diameter cooking grid
  • Weighs 205 pounds
  • 452 square inches of cooking surface
  • The XL EGG can cook:
    • two 20-pound turkeys
    • 24 burgers
    • 11 whole chickens
    • 12 steaks
    • 14 racks of ribs vertically

The extra large egg shown above can be purchased with or without the Nest (metal stand) shown above and with or without Mates (side shelves).  XL is the way to go if you often cook for a crowd or more than family of four.  I own one this size myself and love it but honestly 9 times out of 10 I'm only cooking for my family of four so the extra grill surface isn't really needed.  A large size would do fine for the majority of what I do but then again, there are occasions when I couldn't have too much grill surface when cooking for a crowd of folks.  Note: All eggs are heavy and especially the XL.  Not something you toss in the back of your truck by yourself.   I Occasionally transport mine by myself ( while in the nest) but use a utility trailer with a tailgate ramp to do so.
